Q: How do I find out what version of Mia I have?

Example: V 1.0.4

Q: What is QuickTime?
A: QuickTime is an application that allows you to play animations, video and sounds. Originally, it was developed to work on the Macintosh platform but due to its success, it was made available for computer running Windows as well. Today, it is used widely in a number of computer games. QuickTime is an independent application from Mia and needs to be installed on your computer in order to play all the wonderful animations you will encounter while you play the game.

Q: My CD-ROM locks up, or start spinning really fast. What could be wrong?

A: Your CD-ROM is probably dirty or damaged. Scratches and fingerprints can prevent the disk from being read properly.

Try cleaning the disk. Use dish soap on a soft damp cloth and wipe gently in a radial direction.  Make sure your disk is completely dry before inserting it back in your CD-ROM drive. If cleaning does not work, the disk may need to be replaced.

Q: How do I export a drawing?

A: Click & Create contains a feature to allow you to export your artwork. The image will be saved as a JPEG.

To export a drawing, first make sure it is displayed in the work area. Then press Control (CRTL) and the E key together at the same time. You will then be able to find the exported image in a folder on your hard drive: YourHardDrive / Click&Create / Data_1 / Export

Q: The sound is distorted (garbled). Is there something wrong with my disk?

A: Quicktime 4 and DirectSound do not work well with some audio peripherals. To fix this, follow this procedure:

1. Click on Control Panel in the Start menu.  (Under Settings in Windows 95/98/NT/ME/2K and directly on the menu in Windows XP)

A new window called Control Panel comes up.  By defaults with XP, you will be in Category View.  If that is the case, click on "Switch to Classic View" in the top left corner of the window. With the other Windows, you are already in Classic View.

2. Click the QuickTime icon in the Control Panel.

A new window called QuickTime Settings comes up.

3. In the QuickTime Settings window, click on the arrow next to the drop-down box (where it says "About QuickTime") and select Sound Out from the list.

4. Change the Playback Device from DirectSound to WaveOut. If you have more than one WaveOut options, you can safely pick the one called Windows Prefered Device.

5. Close the window to save the new settings. You do not need to restart your computer.
